Pasteis de Belem was a massive highlight of our trip. We visited around midday on Saturday and the queues were incredibly long, making it impossible to snag a table, but the "to go" counter worked like a charm. If you’re a fan of custard cream pastries, these are an absolute must-try. We even managed to pick up a small wine glass as a souvenir, which is a lovely memento of the visit. It’s a busy, iconic spot, but well worth the effort for that first warm bite.

in the last weekThe pasteis are truly excellent, with a very soft, almost runny center.
