a week agoThis is our first time in Portugal 🇵🇹 and we're starting our tour in Lisbon. A Avo Tinha is one of the very few traditional Portuguese restaurants in the Arroios district. We went there for dinner tonight between 7:30 and 9:15 pm. The restaurant is easy to find and a real eye-catcher with its antique decor. Very simple yet cozy. The service is fantastic. You can tell that guests are genuinely welcome and treated with care. The wine selection, displayed on an old living room sideboard instead of a wine list, is a delightful experience. We opted for the "Sexy" cuvée and were very happy with it. We ordered both traditional fish with mashed potatoes, vegetables, and onions, and pork cooked in wine broth, both of which were delicious, and the prices were very reasonable – nothing like the tourist traps at Cais do Sodré… Highly recommended – we loved it, and so did the mostly local clientele during our visit.
