Dining at Alma was an unforgettable experience that beautifully showcased the creativity and depth of contemporary Portuguese cuisine. My partner and I opted for two tasting menus. I chose Costa a Costa, a tribute to Portugal’s rich tradition of fish and shellfish, while my partner went with the Alma menu, which features some of Chef Henrique Sá Pessoa’s signature dishes.
Each course was a revelation. From the Costa a Costa menu, the standout was the stuffed squid exquisitely tender, packed with flavor, and perfectly balanced. The octopus dish was another high point, easily among the best I’ve ever had charred just right and meltingly soft inside. Every plate brought something new to discover, elevating familiar Portuguese ingredients to something extraordinary.
On the Alma menu, the Alentejo-style pork was the undisputed star, rich, soulful, and deeply satisfying, offering a bold contrast to the lighter seafood notes of my own menu.
The service was impeccable throughout, and the space itself strikes the right balance between refined and welcoming. Alma manages to feel both intimate and world-class, a place where every detail matters. It’s a true celebration of Portuguese flavors with a modern, elegant twist. Highly recommended for a special night out in Lisbon.
