Planned on a lovely birthday dinner but it quickly changed into a very unpleasant visit. We had to wait near the entrance for quite a while. It’s a bit odd to wait for more than 10min before you get a welcome at all. The lady at the bar told us to simply wait. Not the best start to say the least. I got impatient and quickly another waiter gave us a table. The same lady from the bar came to our table and called us out. Asking very loud and rude what name the booking was made. We decided to leave.
I was disappointed that the much publicised outdoor dining wasn't open despite the 30degree temperature but after speaking with Vitor the owner, he was so charming I decided to book a table indoors for my Wife's birthday.
We arrived at the restaurant and as soon as we entered there was a really bad smell, like bad drains or something, but we tried to ignore that, wanting a great night.
Then after waiting in the tiny reception area for a few minutes, the lady behind the bar (5m away) shouted can you please wait there for a minute. We said no problem but 10mins later we decided to seat ourselves with the help of another waitress.
We got our menus but there was no information just menu A or B and a big wine list. Which i thought was odd.
Then sudenly the bar lady with a lot of attitude leaned on our table and asked who we were, making us feel very uncomfortable especially in the cramped, imtimate environment.
Then I saw the same miserable woman explaining to another table every last ingredients on the plate (which should have been written in the menu) and this is one of my pet hates, having to listen to someone talking on and on about the food in front of you, when all you want to do is eat it!
We shortly left after this uncomfortable experience.
Unfortunately I cant tell you about the food but service is as equally important, especially in this calibre of restsurant.
The saving grace was the politeness of Vitor at the beginning of the process otherwise this place would only get 1 star after ruining a special night that was my wife's birthday.
Had a fantastic expression of Portuguese culture, tradition, wine, & food last night! We ended up having the restaurant to ourselves on a Thursday night. I’m vegetarian & the creativity used to ensure I enjoyed each of the 10 courses was very much appreciated. My friends are not vegetarian & thoroughly enjoyed the meal & presentation. I’ll be back! We made a reservation a few days in advance.

2 weeks agoFor the hefty price, we expected better. Only one course was truly surprising. The rest was mediocre. The wine recommendation was fine.
