Best dining experience I've ever had! I travel often and get to experience great food and service but this was the best I've experienced even after being at a different. Michelin restaurant the week before. The service was impeccable and without fail or hiccup. Nelson was the best server and he was very professional, meeting ever need and anticipating needs we didn't even know we had.
We were able to see the kitchen and meet the chefs prior to eating which was amazing, and once we sat down for the tasting menu, João (the sommelier) was ready to introduce us to amazing wines.
The tasting menu was delicious, with delectable bite sized starters, abstract plating, and new flavors and textures. To top it off, we received personalized hand drawn cards to express each tasting. Truly an experience I'll hold close to my heart!
We had the tasting menu with wine pairing. The wine pairing was excellent and perhaps the best I've had anywhere, truly remarkable. Overall, the service was excellent. (The little cards between courses were charming.) Food was good and the meal was well paced. While the food was good, it didn't compare favorably to other Michelin two stars I've dined at.
What really let down the overall experience was dessert. The techniques used in the desserts were impressive. The problem was none of the desserts tasted good. The citrus based dessert was so bitter it was inedible. The pork based ice cream sandwich was clever, but only one of us liked it. It was a disappointing end to the meal, and a bit of a let down. This was the first time I have ever left a meal at a Michelin starred restaurant feeling that it was too expensive for the quality of the food and overall experience.
